We find it inspiring to see the growing number of independent artists in India carve a niche for themselves in their chosen fields of work, individuals who have followed their heart and built a career out of something that they are not just good at but deeply passionate about.
Our philosophy at tachi has always been to create minimalistic yet functional products and to promote Indian craftsmanship. In a country currently obsessed with fast fashion, we decided to pause and instead focus on keeping our designs meaningful, simple and honest where each product is painstakingly handcrafted, carrying forward the story of the artisan’s legacy.
We imagined it would be interesting to connect with like-minded individuals, who have dared to be different and represent our idea of a modern, radical India. An India with a voice that is distinctly hers but has an appeal that crosses borders and cultures.
Our conversations would not be restricted to just individuals in our immediate field of design as we aim to seek out artists across various industries. Those who inspire us and whose work we deeply admire. We are curious to know the stories behind these talented men and women...what drives them, what keeps them up at night, what they’ve learned and are yet to learn.
